 Powell Broadcasting Company is a radio
broadcaster focused on owning and operating radio stations in small-sized
markets, which we define as those ranked below 150 by market revenue.

 As of January 1, 2008, the Powell Group owned and operated 4 FM
and 2 AM radio stations, covering a wide range of programming
formats.
Powell
Broadcasting focuses on small markets because they are less competitive, have
fewer signals, derive a significant portion of their revenue from local
advertisers and offer substantial opportunities for further consolidation.
 Having
multiple stations in a markets of this size also enhances our ability to market
the advantages of radio advertising versus other advertising media, such as
newspapers and television - potentially increasing radio's share of the total
advertising dollars spent in a given market.
Our
portfolio of stations is diversified in terms of format and target
demographics, as well as geographic location.
This
diversity reduces our reliance upon the performance of any single station and
helps insulate us from downturns in specific markets and changes in format
preferences. |
