PHILANTHROPY

Powell Group Fund

The Powell Group believes that communities are strengthened when people begin to see themselves as resources and find successful ways of marshalling their talents and the talents of local people and organizations to solve problems.

The Powell Group Fund was established at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation in appreciation of the fine employees of the company whose productivity make it possible for The Powell Group to give back to the community.

The purpose of the Fund is to support nonprofit organizations that can demonstrate that they have planned their projects with respect to the community's greatest opportunities, particularly in the areas of arts and humanities, community development, education, environment, health care and human services.

For detailed information regarding Eligibility, Proposal Requirements, Grantmaking Schedule and Reporting Requirements, please contact the Baton Rouge Area Foundation at (225) 387-6126 or (877) 387-6126

Powell Fund

Powell Good Guy Fund

The Powell Good Guy Fund was created in February 2000 to encourage philanthropic giving by employees of The Powell Group through tax-deductible contributions made by payroll deduction. For each dollar an employee gives, the company matches with 25 cents. Since its inception, employees have contributed over $40,000 to the Fund and projects funded have included those in human services, education, community development and medical/health.

The Good Guy Fund is unique because employees at each location nominate qualifying 501(c)(3) charitable organizations to a local Employee Committee, which then selects the nonprofits that will receive grants. Each employee group is allowed to choose their areas of interest and the money raised stays within the cities where the company has operations - Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, Louisiana; Sioux City and LeMars, Iowa and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
